6 weeks

Adeline is 6 weeks old today and I must say we are doing great. I'm not saying that having 2 kids under the age of 2 is easy by any means but it isn't as hard as I thought it would be. I was lucky to have help for almost 3 weeks because of my c-section and I was nervous about doing it on my own but we are making out really well. Apparently I am capable of being a mother of two.

The late nights and early mornings are not the roughest part. I am hoping that will get better really soon. Adeline stays up until 11 most nights and then gets up several times and MSN pops up around 6:15 every morning. I try to sneak in some naps but that doesn't always work out either.

Adeline is definitely at an age that is hard to please. She is too small to do anything so she gets bored. She is happy as long as you are holding her and allowing her to sit straight up. She likes to sit up and see the world around her, I can't really blame her though, I like to see whats going on too. She has a precious face and has started smiling at you every time you talk to her these days. It doesn't take much to get a smile out of her and those make all the sleepless nights worth it.

Mary Selwyn is a darling big sister. Very sweet and attentive. She is always asking to hold her and love on her. If Adeline is not in the same room as her she will ask, "Where is Adeline," or say "My baby, my baby," while she looks around frantically for her. It is too cute. The other day she woke up from her nap calling, "Oh Adeline..." It is normally oh mommy or daddy, so she can get out of her bed but that particular day she was hoping Adeline would walk through her door.

Poor MSN probably feels like a shut-in these days. Before Adeline was born she and I were on the go almost all the time, however, these days are spent mostly at home. We have only ventured out twice. We did make it to church yesterday as a family, which was great, it was good to back. Luckily Mary Selwyn will start Mother's Morning Out in 2 weeks. I know she will be so excited to have somewhere to go, get out of the house and play with other kids.

We are still trying to figure out the best routine. Trial and error I guess. I think Shay and I could use a little more quality time but I'm sure all parents feel that way. We will get some time back when Adeline settles into a better schedule. We do have a beach getaway planned in 3 weeks so that will be helpful.

So that is the full update on the Nichols. A bit boring I realize but I'm okay with that. My boring life is a happy life. That's all that matters right?

I'm enjoying my girls......and dressing them alike as much as possible. (:

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day...a week late. We had a good Mother's day. We decided to go home on Saturday and surprise everyone. Shay's grandparents hadn't seen Adeline yet and Grandma was about to bust. She was excited when we showed up at church. Everyone was surprised and glad to get to love on the girls for a little while. It was a fun day spent with our families.

Please excuse that tired look on my face. I'm hoping it will return to normal one day.

Adeline and Greatdaddy

Adeline and Greatmama

Mary Selwyn and Papa riding the horse. We were all surprised she was brave enough to get on. Yes, she is riding the horse in nothing but her diaper and sandals. While I was tending to Adeline, Shay, with the encouragement of some other family memebers, made the executive decision that her dress was too hot and took it off of her and let her run around outside almost naked. Oh well.

I am thankful the Lord has allowed me to be a mommy to two beautiful girls. It was a very happy mother's day for one tired mommy. (:
