Pat Green

Last Thursday Shay and I went to the Pat Green concert in Montgomery. Shay had surprised me with tickets the week before and we even stayed in the new Renaissance downtown Montgomery, where the concert was. It was such a fun little get-a-way.

This was my fourth time to see a Pat Green show and it was just as good as all the other times. He has been on tour with some big acts lately so we haven't seen him in a while. He plays such great, small, intimate shows and we think that is really the only way to see him. He interacts with the crowd a lot and is really funny. It was worth every penny. I'm lucky to have such a sweet husband and it was a perfect surprise. So much fun!

Wet and Rainy, Hot and Muggy, Miserable and Awesome Gameday

Shay and I went to the game this weekend. It was a day full of rain. I've never had the pleasure of attending a game with so much rain before. At least it was worth it. We had a great time but got home entirely too late....I think we are both still exhausted. Here are just a few pictures. I wish I could have gotten more of the actual monsoon but I didn't want my camera to be flooded like everything else.
Shay's cousin Andrew and his girlfriend Hartley were our dates to the game.
Me, Brooke and baby......Brooke is pregnant! Yay! All three of my roommates are due in March, how exciting is that?
This picture is awful but I thought it really showed what kind of day it was. I wish I had taken one of me in my poncho....it was pretty cute...ha ha.

My Girls

Little Sister: I finally took Adeline to the doctor on Friday for her 4 month check up. We have had to reschedule several times for various reasons and the flu outbreak. The doctor decided her well baby check up could wait in an attempt to avoid the flu ridden office. We of course got a good report, however, I am sure that 4 month shots are from the devil. She weighs 15 lbs 15 oz and is 25 inches. She is 75% in weight and 65% in height. Not to sound like a broken record but she is a much smaller version of her sister. She may be getting her height from mommy's side of the family. Dr. Barron said she was perfect but we already knew that.

Adeline started sitting up by herself last Tuesday. I still don't fully trust her to sit there while I walk away. Sometimes she gets so excited and rocks back and forth a little too fast but a few pillows around her cushions the fall. Adeline has great hand control already and can grab anything in front of her, whether you want her to or not. She laughs and giggles and makes the sweetest sounds. She has the most precious face, it is her sister's face from 2 years ago. She is just the best baby. Period.

Big Sister: Mary Selwyn is a hoot these days. She comes up with new things everyday and we are amazed at how smart she is. She loves to sing along with songs and dance. She loves this new show called the Fresh Beat Band and she tries to do all their dance moves. It is too funny. She loves, loves, loves Mother's Morning Out and on the way home Thursday she said in a very pitiful, whiny voice, "I don't want to go home, I want to go back to school and play with my fwiends." She loves to play with other kids and is pretty good at sharing.
She has a full vocabulary and has almost completely phased out her "Mary Selwyn" words. For example she used to call her shoes "duggies" now they are just shoes. She still calls fruit snacks or cereal "JuJus" which was her first word. Chicken is still "coocoo" and water is still "whoalio" for now, however, she can say chicken and water so I'm sure we will make the transition to the real words soon. It is a good thing that she can and is saying the real words I know, but it is sad to see the last signs of my baby disappear.

We are very lucky to have two very sweet girls. The best thing about having two kids so far is how much they love each other. Adeline is fascinated by her big sister. She locks her eyes on Mary Selwyn and follows her every move. She smiles every time she sees MSN. No one can make Adeline talk and laugh like Mary Selwyn can. It is adorable and makes you melt. Mary Selwyn is so sweet to Adeline and just loves on her all the time. There are literally times when she is so close to her that you couldn't slide a piece of paper between them. She has never once been jealous or annoyed by her sister. I know those days are coming, I do. For now it is pure bliss.

See what I mean....

End of Summer

To finish up summer, Meme and Papa (Shay's parents) took us on one last beach trip. The weather was beautiful and we had such a fun family trip. Here are the pictures. We took almost 200 pictures here are just a few.

My Beautiful Beach Bums

Adeline enjoying the waves. She is so different from her sister who is still not a big fan of the sand.

A boat ride with Kate and Papa

The girls loved when the ad planes or helicopters flew over.

Thanks for the ride daddy, now I don't have to walk in the sand.

Another nap in the pool.....this is the life!

Game Day at the Beach!!

It is always a little sad when summer ends, but that also means that fall is beginning and it is finally football season. We love summer but I think fall is our favorite time of year. War Eagle!

The Cat, The Stomach Bug and The Brother

The Cat: This is my cat Silas. I love him dearly. You wouldn't know it because he has taken a definite backseat since the girls have joined the family. So even though he doesn't get much blog time, know that I do love him. He was my first "baby." Shay and I picked him out, or he picked us out really, at the humane society a week after we moved to Dothan. He was precious and really stuck out in a room full of cats because he BEGGED for attention. Shay was hesitant because he seemed so needy but I was in love. Best part, he was on sale for $40 because he had already been neutered. He quickly became my best friend. I made him come home every night and sleep right next to me. He did that of course until Mary Selwyn was born, then he got the boot. Poor Si.

Last week when we finally returned home Silas had a lovely surprise for us. I guess while we were gone he ran into a bit of trouble and came home with many wounds all over his body. I'm going to be graphic when I tell you that there was a piece of fat hanging out of an opened wound on his leg. It was a huge opened wound. Something really jacked him up in several places. I won't post pictures because I'm afraid no one will ever read my blog again. Anyway we had to make a decision....would we take him to the vet and spend close to $500 on a cat or try and let it heal. Well it was kind of an easy decision since I don't have $500 to spend on my cat. I felt so guilty and sick to my stomach about not being able to help him but we were going to have to give it some chance to heal on it's own.

My very sweet friend Mandy had brought Luke over to play and decided she needed to take a look at this cat I'd been telling her all about. She felt sure he needed a trip to the vet but decided that if he couldn't go to the vet we should at least give him so antibiotics to help with infection. So she not only arranged for him to get the medicine but she picked it up and brought it to us along with some canned cat food. Silas was very thankful and I'm positive he wishes Mandy was his mom and not me anymore. I am happy to report that by some miracle Silas is doing awesome. The medicine must have really helped and his wounds are almost completely healed. Do not ask me what happened to the piece hanging out of his leg....it is gone and I don't need to know how. He even jumped over the fence which proves he is all better. After all the stress and worry, Silas is back to his old self, down a few cat lives I'm sure but better. I'm very relieved. It was very traumatic for me.

The Stomach Bug: In the midst of the cat drama my family somehow caught a stomach bug. It hit Shay all of the sudden on Thursday night and he was in the bed for the next 48 hours. Both girls got a touch of it also, which was no fun. We had to cancel a cook out we had planned and it really put a damper on our whole weekend. I am the only lucky one that did not get sick, knock on wood. I think the Lord knew if Mama got sick we would all be in trouble. I'm thankful I didn't get sick and that what we had was very short lived. Again, our sweet friend Mandy brought us this yummy dessert.....no one was too sick to eat this chocolate creation. It was divine. I actually think that is what did the trick because everyone feels much better now. We are very thankful for all of the kindness Mandy showed us this past week. She is an awesome friend!!
This picture does not do it justice.

The Brother: Finally, my mom and my grandmother brought my brother Taylor to visit me on Tuesday. I don't think I've talked about him since my post over a year ago when he joined the army. Well the time has come. Soon he will be deploying to Iraq for a whole year. A WHOLE YEAR!!! I can't believe it....it is such a long time. Tuesday is the last time I will see him for A WHOLE YEAR!! I'm excited, scared and nervous for him. I've never gone so long without seeing him and it is going to be a tough year with him across the world. We will especially miss him during the holidays. Please keep him in your thoughts and pray for a safe return....in a whole year!! Can you tell I think this is a really long time? Luckily I will be able to communicate with him and I have a web cam so hopefully he will be able to see the girls. Mary Selwyn loves her Uncle Tay Tay and her Uncle Bad. Guess Uncle Bad will have to do double duty with Uncle Tay Tay being gone. It was a sad good-bye for me...not so much for him but I cried after he left. It's not good-bye I know and I can't wait to see him again. I guess my baby brother isn't a baby anymore, wonder when that happened?
