Let the Summer Begin!

We have a very busy summer planned.  It will be a lot busier than a normal summer for us.  We have many trips planned, one of which includes a big plane, one mommy and two little girls.  In a few weeks the 3 of us are flying to San Antonio to see my grandparents.  My girls are SO excited... I am so excited too but slightly nervous about the to and from.  We will worry about that when it comes.

This week we took our first trip to Pensacola to visit some old friends.  It is only a 3 hour trip but when you have kids no trip is only a 3 hour (or any hour for that matter) trip.  My girls were absolute angels on the way there.  It was a fun car ride with lots of singing  They ride home may not have been as pleasant but wasn't the worst trip in the world either, so I can complain.

While in Pensacola we enjoyed the beach and park and old friends.  We stayed with our friends Brad and Maile and Addison. Brad and Maile were our dear friends in the early years of living in Dothan.  They were wonderful friends and I miss having Maile around something terrible.  We got to have dinner with my BFF from high school Rachel and her family.  It was fun to visit with them and see our kids together.  I wish we didn't live so far from all of them.

I LOVE this picture

They would be best friends if they had the chance.... I can tell.  Maybe they can be roommates at Auburn one day.

this girl loves the water... thank you Lord for creating such a beautiful beach area both of my children love..if only it wasn't 3 hours away.

Shay turns 30!

Posted by Picasa

Shay turned 30 yesterday!!  We went to the beach last month with Adam and Amy to celebrate his 30th but I had a few surprises for his actual day up my sleeve.  The girls and I spent all day Friday cleaning the house, making cards and baking him a cake.  We also went to the party store and bought him birthday plates and napkins, party hats, a 30 balloon and a very special flashing 30 button.  That was definitely the crowd pleaser.  We had a little party just the four of us first thing Saturday morning with sausage balls (thanks Mitzi) and muffins, one with a trick candle.  We tried to let Daddy sleep in but that didnt go so well.  Later that afternoon another surprise showed up.  Shay's cousin Andrew and his wife Hartley drove all the way down just to spend the night with us and celebrate Shay's birthday.  Shay was so surprised!  I've never pulled off a real surprise for him before so I was so excited to see him so surprised.  Andrew and Hartley also brought their dog Marpie, which was a fun "surprise" for the girls.  The adults went out last night and enjoyed a kid-free dinner.  We've realized that we are too old to stay out late but it was really fun.  Thank you Andrew, Hartley and Marpie for driving all the way down here to spend less than 24 hours with us.  It was a fun weekend and hopefully a memorable 30th birthday for Shay.  Happy Birthday Daddy!  We love you and look forward to the next "decade" with you!

Lets try this again...since the virus

(I have already done this exact same post but somehow it was deleted.... who knows what is going on.  This virus has ruined my "computer life."  ha ha.) Of course now it is posted twice... ugh.  Enjoy it twice.

My computer has had a terrible virus and has been out of commission for a while. Who in the world sends people computer viruses? What is the point? Just to ruin a strangers computer? The "virus" people must be some of the meanest people in the world... jerks! There are still some blogs I can't open, maybe because the layouts are too complicated for my sick little computer. It will apparently never be the same. Oh and Adeline popped off some of the keys on my computer and they cannon be replaced without replacing the whole keypad. Don't worry it was only the important keys like say, both shift keys, the enter key, caps lock and backspace. As you can imagine it is making typing this blog, and anything else on the computer very challenging.

On to the good stuff. We had Adeline's birthday party a few weekends ago. It was a very sweet and perfect party, if I do say so myself. I'm finding that simple is always better.  As always I took a million pictures so I just made a little collage of the most important pictures.

Mary Selwyn had her end of the year program at church.  It was the first time the three year olds performed in the sanctuary in front of a large crowd.  Although Mary Selwyn loves choir, had practiced in the sanctuary twice and volunteered to sing a solo from Annie (which of course they respectfully declined), I was worried she might get overwhelmed or shy in front of the crowd.  I was wrong.  She sang and she danced!  She seemed to love performing.... apparently she takes after Shay who was quite the performer as a child as well.  It was cute and hilarious.  I know their performance made the Lord smile.

since the virus

My computer has had a terrible virus and has been out of commission for a while. Who in the world sends people computer viruses? What is the point? Just to ruin someones computer? The "virus" people must be some of the meanest people in the world... jerks! There are still some blogs I can't open, I'm thinking because some blogs have more complicated layouts or backgrounds.  So everyone change your blog to a basic layout just so I can read them, thanks, ha ha.

I took a million pictures, shocking, so instead of sharing them all I just made a little collage of the most important pictures from the party.

Mary Selwyn also had her end of the year program at church.  This was the first time the 3 year olds had performed in front of a large crowd in the sanctuary.  Although Mary Selwyn loves choir, had practiced in the sanctuary twice and even volunteered to sing a solo from Annie, I was still a little nervous that she would get overwhelmed by the crowd and be shy.  I was wrong.  She was the opposite of shy.  She was a total ham.  She sang and danced!  I'm not sure where all of that came from but it was hilarious and sweet!  I know all the little children made the Lord smile.

Here are some videos from the program.  I had to use the link to facebook because my blog wouldn't let me upload videos.  Dumb virus. WARNING  I am a terrible "videographer" (is that a word).  It is shaky and very blair witch-ish.... sorry!
